ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. LaVern R. McCants, the highly effective author that offers sound solutions in her books for youth, parents, teachers and school administrators has numerous new releases. Her inception of writing books started in the early 1990s close to the completion of her first master's in education. McCants has written books from numerous genres deemed as excellent reads.  

Her background includes varied experiences in the educational field. She worked on the preschool, elementary, middle school and high school levels. She has earned phenomenal accomplishments in the field of education. She served in the educational field for over two decades in traditional settings, nontraditional settings and as a School Improvement Consultant.  McCants has decades of varied and rewarding experience in the field of education. She received nominations for both Who's Who Among America's Teachers and The Golden Apple Award.

Dr. McCants holds a Doctor of Education degree and graduated with the distinction of highest honors because of her highest level of achievement in her academic endeavors. Her academic achievement included all A's earned on the doctoral level that led to graduating with a Doctor of Education degree with a 4.0 on a 4.0 grading scale from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also holds two master's in the field of education. One master's is in educational leadership. Her other master's is in education along with numerous certifications for specialized areas. She holds a bachelor's with a double concentration in a field not related to the field of education.  

McCants served on numerous school improvement committees on the high school level, elementary and K-12 school districts. She also received school improvement training. While a student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, McCants was nominated by the College of Education to serve on the advisory board for the Office of the Provost. The Provost Office is one of the highest offices at both large and small universities. The Provost Office at most universities is responsible for the development, implementation, assessment, and improvement of all academic programs and policies. 

Dr. McCants is a member of two honor societies. She is a member of the invitation-only Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, which is the nation's most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. She is also a member of the Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society. Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society is a prestigious honor society that chooses outstanding pre-service and practicing educators to partake in their honor society. Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society seeks to elevate the profession of education by selecting high-achievers that elect education as a career.

Dr. McCants’ 2020-2021 scheduled 100-City Empowerment Tour has been postponed due to our current global crisis, which may extend her tour until 2023. The release date of seven of Dr. McCants’ newly released written work will be available in bookstores everywhere on November 10, 2020 instead of the previously scheduled date of June 9, 2020.
